Install guide

Put FirePortal on your home screen.

FirePortal installs straight from your browser - no app store, no big download. It takes about 30 seconds, and you end up with the FirePortal icon on your phone, ready to open like any other app.

Why bother installing it?

FirePortal works fine in your browser. Putting it on your home screen just makes it better.

One tap to open

Opens full screen from your home screen, straight into FirePortal. No address to type, no browser bars in the way.

Always up to date

There are no store updates to chase. FirePortal refreshes itself, so you always have the latest version.

What phone have you got?

Pick yours and follow the five steps. The pictures are illustrations - your screen may look a little different.

On an iPhone or iPad

Use Safari, the blue compass that comes with your device. You'll need to be in Safari itself - not a browser built into another app.

  1. Open FirePortal in Safari

Go to app.fireportal.org in Safari and wait for the page to load.

Tapped a FirePortal link in another app, like Facebook or WhatsApp? Those open in a built-in browser that often can't add to your home screen. Copy the address and paste it into Safari instead.

  2. Tap the Share button

It's the square with an arrow pointing up, in the bar along the bottom of the screen Share.

Can't see it? On newer versions of iOS it can be tucked behind the More button - tap that first. On an iPad it's at the top right, next to the address bar.

  3. Choose Add to Home Screen

A list of options slides up. Scroll down until you see Add to Home Screen (it has a plus in a square next to it) and tap it.

Not there? Scroll right to the bottom of the list and tap Edit Actions, then switch Add to Home Screen on.

  4. Check the name and tap Add

You'll see the FirePortal icon and its name. Leave the name as FirePortal - or change it if you like - then tap Add in the top-right corner.

On iOS 26 you may also see an Open as Web App switch. Leave it on.

  5. Open FirePortal from your home screen

FirePortal is now on your home screen with the rest of your apps. Tap the icon and log in.

From now on, open FirePortal from this icon rather than from Safari.

You'll probably need to log in again. The icon on your home screen keeps its own sign-in, separate from Safari, so the first time you open it you'll be asked to log in.

On an Android phone

Use Chrome, which is already on most Android phones. Other browsers work almost the same way - see the note after the steps.

  1. Open FirePortal in Chrome

Go to app.fireportal.org in Chrome and wait for the page to load.

Tapped a FirePortal link in another app, like an email or WhatsApp? Use that app's menu to choose Open in Chrome, then carry on from there.

  2. Open the Chrome menu

Tap the three dots Menu in the top-right corner of Chrome.

  3. Tap Install app

Look for Install app in the menu and tap it.

Some phones call it Add to Home screen instead. If so, tap that, then choose Install when Chrome asks.

  4. Tap Install

A box pops up showing the FirePortal icon and name. Tap Install.

Android adds FirePortal to your phone like any other app, and may put the icon on your home screen for you.

  5. Open FirePortal

Find the FirePortal icon on your home screen - or swipe up from the bottom to see all your apps - and tap it. Log in and you're set.

Its shape depends on your phone. Some are round, some are rounded squares.

Using a different browser? In Samsung Internet, open the menu () and look for Add page to → Home screen. In Firefox, open the menu and tap Install. Menu names change a little between phones and versions.

Stuck? Quick fixes

I can't see Add to Home Screen on my iPhone

Check you're in Safari itself, not a browser inside another app such as Facebook, WhatsApp or Mail. Then open the Share list, scroll to the very bottom, tap Edit Actions and make sure Add to Home Screen is switched on. Still nothing? Update iOS in Settings → General → Software Update and try again.

I can't see Install app on my Android phone

Make sure you're using Chrome in a normal tab (not Incognito), that Chrome is up to date, and that FirePortal has finished loading - give it a few seconds, then open the menu again. If you only see Add to Home screen, tap that and choose Install.

Do I have to install it?

No. FirePortal works in your browser at app.fireportal.org. Installing just makes it quicker to open.

Does it take up much space?

Hardly any. It's a shortcut to FirePortal rather than a big download from an app store.

How do I remove it?

On iPhone or iPad, press and hold the FirePortal icon, tap Remove App, then Delete App. On Android, press and hold the icon and tap Uninstall (or App info, then Uninstall). You can always add it again using the steps above.

I've changed phone. Do I need to do this again?

Yes - install it on your new phone using the steps above.
